AU Summit set for June

THE 23rd African Union Summit is scheduled for 20-27 June in Malabo, the Republic of Equatorial Guinea.

In accordance with a commitment made by the African leaders to declare 2014 as the year of agricultural development, the theme for the summit is “Agriculture and Food Security in Africa.”

As such, the summit is expected to discuss how the continent could boost production and feed itself.Africa has the capacity to be a global player in the food market as it possesses fertile soils and affluent water basins.

However, challenges such as inadequate funding, poor rural infrastructure and neglected agricultural research have affected the agricultural sector. Read More....
