AASI Convocation Day

AASI Convocation Day
On the eve of July 7, 2014 the Association of African Students in India (AASI) organized the second edition of AASI Convocation Ceremony at India International Center, New Delhi. The Association in its endeavor to bring all African students studying across India at one platform and in remembrance of H.E. Dr. Bingu Wa Muterika, organized the Convocation Ceremony. No doubt, H.E. Dr. Bingu Wa Muterika, the former President of Malawi has a great and strong relation with India as his education roots deep down in the country when he studied at Shri Ram College of Commerce at Delhi University. Dr. Bingu founded the Association of African Students in India with a vision to create a podium for all African students to be together, encourage each other, prosper and interact with Indians.

The auspicious event was graced by esteemed presence of the Chief Guests; Dean, Heads of African Missions in India; H.E. Mr. Francois Balumuene, and Malawi High Commissioner, H.E. Dr. Perks Ligoya along with Diplomats and others. The convocation took its pace with the distribution of certificates to graduating African Students as an acknowledgment and congratulations for the achievement. The event by AASI is an initiative to encourage students heading back to their countries to contribute in the development and growth of Africa.  While addressing the students, Dean, H.E. Mr. Francois Balumuene asserted, “My words today would be to see you all going back to Africa and becoming important and great people of and for the continent.”
