A New Code of Conduct

The East African Business Council (EABC) has settled to bring together a new code of conduct for enhancing business in the region. The code of conduct which will is anticipated to be prepared by April 2015, will be endorsed among EABC’s partner states.

The council also strategies to furnish training sessions to the staff of the businesses allied with it, so as to help in the easy application of the code.

“The Code seeks to incorporate key themes that are internationally recognized as basic principles for responsible global citizenship for any business,” EABC’s Executive Director, Andrew Luzze was quoted as saying. “As a regional private sector lobby and advocacy body, EABC’s success depends on its reputation, integrity and transparency. Both regionally and globally, a clear business case has repeatedly been underscored for businesses to behave in a manner that promotes ethical business practices, transparency and fair competition in the private and public sectors; for the benefit of their companies; the economy, the citizenry and the environment.” Luzze added.
