Creation of New Jobs for Tanzanians

Southern Agricultural Growth Corridor of Tanzania (SAGCOT) on evolving the region’s agriculture potential has originated a project which will aid in the creation of 420,000 new jobs. Over the next 15 years, the project aims lift two million people out of poverty.

SAGCOT’s CEO, Mr. Geoffrey Kirenga broadcasted the launching of this project during the forum held in Dar es Salaam. It projects to convert around 350,000 hectares of land into profitable farmland, and will help 100,000 small farmers into commercial farmers.

The plan which encompasses various stakeholders from private sector as well is anticipated to generate the results by 2030. The various partners have committed to spend almost $1 billion dollar to facilitate the successful completion of the project. Read More...
