Joy Industries to Establish Zoo in Koforidua

Management of Joy Industries Limited (JIL), producers of Joy Ointment, Joy Soap and Joy Dadi Bitters (JD) have hinted of plans to set up the largest and first private zoo in Koforidua in the Eastern Region.

The company, which is a leading alcoholic beverage entity in the country has also indicated that it will establish an artificial walkway, a three star hotel and a school complex on a 1000-acre piece of land it has acquired Eastern Regional capital.

Construction of the above projects, which is expected to start concomitantly, would commence by the later part of this year to boost the tourism potential of the Eastern region.

Already, the company has established a private radio station, BRYT FM, which is operating on the 99.1 frequency in Koforidua to help promote tourism in the region.

Dr. Manfred Takyi, Chief Executive Officer of the company dropped the hint when Hon. Antwi Boasiako-Sekyere, Eastern Regional Minister paid a working visit to familiarize himself with operations of the company on Tuesday.
According to him, management of the company was motivated to construct the facilities because investigations they have conducted recently indicates that the two national Zoos do not have adequate animals which can attract tourists to enhance the tourism industry. Read More...
