State owned Powertel has now become the fourth telecom operator in Zimbabwe following Econet Wireless, Telecel and Netone.

Econet is the largest service provider in Zimbabwe with 8.5 million subscribers, followed by Telecel with a subscription of 2.54 million users and NetOne has a user base of 2.45 million subscribers.

The company after obtaining the Converged Telecommunications Licence from the Posts and Telecommunication Regulatory Authority (Potraz) is set to become the fourth telecom service provider in Zimbabwe.

“This has always been Powertel’s objective to offer total telecommunications solutions to Zimbabwe and Africa at large,” said Powertel’s Marketing Manager, Prosper Mutswiri.
