Zimbabwe records an increase in tourist arrivals

Zimbabwe records an increase in tourist arrivalsZIMBABWE HAS recorded a positive increase of 2.6 percent in tourist arrivals between 2013 and 2014.

According to the latest 2014 Brief Overview on Tourism Performance report released by the Zimbabwe Tourism Authority (ZTA), arrivals into the country increased to about 1.9 million this year from just about 1.8 million last year.

“Tourist arrivals grew by 2.6 percent in 2014 from 1 832 583 to 1 880 028,” reads part of the report released by ZTA, adding that this growth is slightly below “the Sub Sahara growth of 3.3 percent.”

Zimbabwe also continued to experience growth in arrivals from all its major source regions except Asia.

Africa, Europe and America are Zimbabwe’s major source regions. For example, a total of 1 600 496 tourists visited Zimbabwe in 2014 compared to 1 570 799 the previous year.

With regard to those from America, a total of 66 826 tourists visited Zimbabwe as opposed to 54 157 last year, representing an increase of 23 percent. Read More..
