Nigerian vice president receives delegation from the African petroleum producers’ association (APPA) & re-affirms their full commitment to the organisation of cape VI7 September, Abuja, Nigeria: In March 2015 Nigeria took over the presidency of the African Petroleum Producers’ Association, making her the next host of the association’s statutory meetings and CAPE VI (African Petroleum Congress & Exhibition), which will take place from 15 – 17 March 2015, in Abuja.

A delegation from APPA, comprising the Minister of Petroleum Resources of Ivory Coast, Minister of Energy of Niger, APPA Executive Secretary, APPA Fund Executive Secretary, Executive Secretary of the Nigerian Local Content Monitoring Board, Project Director AME Trade and some senior members of the Local Organising Committee, paid a courtesy call on the Nigerian Vice President as part of a working visit in preparation for the statutory meetings and CAPE VI.

The Vice President while receiving the delegation on behalf of the president and government of Nigeria stated that it was indeed an honour for Nigeria to have been elected president of the Association. He stressed the fact that APPA was right in taking the necessary steps to re-position itself to become even more relevant in today’s current energy space.

He went on to say that as a founding member of the African Petroleum Producers’ Association and indeed, current president, Nigeria was committed to continuing to fulfil its obligations and will ensure that during the tenure of Nigeria’s presidency of APPA, more African producers will encouraged not only join APPA but play active roles within this very important association for the benefit of all stake holders. Read More...
